Riverside Earns 8-1 Victory over Cypress

The Riverside City College women's tennis team took to its home courts in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown against the Cypress College Chargers. Riverside continued their strong conference play by defeating the Chargers, 8-1, thus earning their fourth conference victory this month.

The Tiger's doubles play set the tone for the match as sophomore Heather Graf and freshman Yasmin Johnson earned an 8-3 win as the top pair. Freshman Hannah Stevenson and sophomore Emilia Lopez followed as the second pair and earned a dominant 8-0 victory.  

Freshman Torrey Mateljan acted as the top singles player and soared to a two-set victory with scores reading 6-1, 6-3. Stevenson followed t the third position and earned a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win.

Johnson mimicked her outcome at the fourth position, while freshman Monica Madrid mirrored their outcomes with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the number five position.

Riverside (11-2, 6-2 OEC) will face off against the El Camino College Warriors on Wednesday, March 20 in non-conference action. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. .
