Women’s Tennis Earns Third-Straight Conference Win

The Riverside City College women's tennis team continued Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action on Thursday afternoon on the road against the Fullerton College Hornets. Riverside hauled in their third-consecutive conference victory by defeating the Hornets by the final score of 7-2.

Sophomore Heather Graf and freshman Yasmin Johnson earned the first point for the Tigers by dominating their doubles match by the final score of 8-0. Freshman Hannah Stevenson and sophomore Emilia Lopez backed them with a 8-2 win as the number three pair.

Graf continued to take her singles match by the final count of 6-2, 6-1, while freshman Maxelle Bernie followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the number three position. Stevenson worked towards a two-set win with her scores reading 6-1, 6-1, while Johnson backed her at the number five singles spot with a 6-4, 6-5 win.

Freshman Miranda Cardenas had the most dominant singles victory at the sixth position with her scores reading 6-0, 6-0.

Riverside (8-1, 3-1 OEC) will continue conference action on the road Tuesday, March 12 as they take on the Saddleback College Gauchos at 2 p.m.
