Women’s Tennis Hauls in Fifth-Consecutive Win

The Riverside City College women's tennis team hosted the Mt. San Jacinto College Eagles in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon in a twice delayed reschedule. IT was all Riverside throughout the entire match as the Tigers were downright dominant leading to their fifth-straight 9-0 victory.

Riverside had no problem sweeping the doubles play highlighted by freshman Maxelle Bernie and Torrey Mateljan holding down the top spot. They earned their fifth-straight victory by the final count of 8-0. Freshman duo Monica Madrid and Miranda Cardenas held down the second doubles spot with a 8-0 win as well.

Freshman Yazmin Johnson was deemed the top singles player and cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. She was backed by Cardenas in the second position and she worked towards a two-set win at scores reading 6-1, 6-1.

Madrid displayed the most enforcing singles victory as the number three at a final count of 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Heather Graf and Bernie won via forfeit.

Riverside (5-0) will continue action at home on Thursday, February 21 for their Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opener against Saddleback College at home at 2 p.m.
