Tigers Conclude Play at CCCAA Championships at Ojai

VENTURA COUNTY -- With its two singles players and three doubles tandems having finished play at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Singles and Doubles Championships at Ojai last weekend (April 27-30), the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's tennis squad have concluded play.

In singles, No. 12-seeded RCC frosh Hana Papaco -- who is pictured -- defeated Ana Hinojosa, 6-4, 6-3, last Thursday (Apr. 27) before losing, 6-3, 6-1, to Glendale's Hailey McNall.

RCC frosh Ellia Rosado received a first-round bye before defeating Modesto's Kaitlyn Mayfield, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (8). Rosado then lost, 6-0, 6-0, to No. 3 seed Clarissa Colling of Orange Coast last Friday (Apr. 28).

In doubles, Samantha Moreto and Ellia Rosado defeated El Camino's Hoshiko and Mejia, 6-0, 6-0, last Thursday before defeating Viktoriya Laver and Sophia Taber from American River, 6-3, 7-6, 12-10. Moreto and Rosado then lost, 7-5, 7-5, to Iren Feher and Srna Lepchevska of Santa Monica.

Also in doubles, RCC's Papaco and Gaby Ante (#14 seed in the south) opened with a first-round bye before defeating Sharon Cahill and Monique Tran of Chabot, 6-2, 6-1. Papaco and Ante then lost, 6-1, 6-1, to the No. 3 seed Miriam Lopez and Mimi Nguyen of De Anza.

Finally, RCC sophomore Ashley Bauman and frosh Nani Nguyen lost, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6, to Palomar's Veronika Kremenaya and Chihiro Nishijima last Thursday (Apr. 27).
