Tigers Find Success Swimming in the Rain

In its final tune-up of the regular season, Riverside City College saw several Tigers win their events at the Riverside Invite on a rainy Friday. 

Annabella Storar led the day off on a strong note, winning the 1650 free with a time of 19 minutes, 5.28 seconds. Abigail Ruiz took fourth in 20:23.05. Storar also won the 200-yard fly, clocking in at 2:31.44.

Jessie Nelson won the 400-yard IM after breaking five minutes with a time of 4:58.98 and also took first in the 200-yard breast after putting in a strong kick in the final 50 yards to touch the wall in 2:36.13. She grabbed her third win in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 2:22.13.

Kirsten Maag grabbed third in the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:16.38 and Jaeden Johnson took third in the 500-yard free after touching the wall in 5:51.28.

RCC's 200-yard medley team (Katarina Bobrova, Jessie Nelson, Storar, Samantha Thomas) took third with a time of 2:05.72. The Tiger 800-yard free relay team of Storar, Nelson, Johnson and Samantha Thomas finished second in 8:45.96.

The Tigers shift their focus to the postseason, heading to the Orange Empire Conference Championship next. The diving championships take place April 12-13, while the rest of the championship will be held April 18-20.
