Lorelai Carney Makes RCC History, Sweeps CCCAA State Diving Championships

Freshman diver Lorelai Carney made history today by sweeping the podium and hauling in two dive titles at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships on Thursday.

Carney, who was fresh off an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championship in the one meter and the three meter, repeated her feat once again by adding to her golden trophy case. It is the first time in school history that a female diver has reeled in the state championship in both the one meter and the three meter.

In the one meter, Carney entered as the favorite by 19 points. She won her title by a little less of a margin, but was the clear cut favorite after landing on top of the podium by 16 points with an overall score of 213.95. She continued on to the three meter and amassed a meet-best 209.00 to route the competition.

It is the first time an RCC diver has won a state title since Emily Dunkerson.
