Tigers Finish Ninth at CCCAA Championships

MONTEREY PARK -- Gaining a sixth-place individual finish and a seventh-place relay finish on the third and final day of competition at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Championships, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's swimming and diving team finished in ninth place.

The CCCAA Championships were hosted by East Los Angeles College (ELAC) in Monterey Park.

Sierra won the state championship with 470 points, followed by San Diego Mesa College (322 points) and Santa Rosa Junior College (310). Among Orange Empire Conference (OEC) members, Orange Coast was seventh (214), Riverside was ninth (178), Golden West Was was 18th (67) and Cypress was 23rd (40).

Highlighting Saturday's action, RCC sophomore Mary Myers (Riverside - M.L. King HS '15) finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.53) and sophomore Emily Martin (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS '15) -- who is pictured -- finished tenth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.46).

In the final women's event of the meet -- the 400-yard freestyle relay -- the Tigers finished seventh (3:40.66) with the quartet of Martin, sophomore Citlali Salazar (Eastvale - Eleanor Roosevelt HS '15), sophomore Jacqueline Johnson (Temescal Canyon HS '15) and Myers doing the deed.
