Tigers Depth Shows, Lead Chaffey Invitational After Day 1 Without Any First-place Finishers

PERRIS -- Holding a narrow seven-point lead after Day 1 (of 2) of the Chaffey Invitational despite not having any first-place finishers, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's swimming and diving team leads nine other teams after competition Friday (Mar. 10) at Citrus Hill High School.

Riverside has collected 268 points, which is slightly ahead of second-place San Diego Mesa College (261 points). In third place is Palomar College (205), followed by Mt. San Antonio (175.50), Citrus (101), East Los Angeles (76), Rio Hondo (37), host Chaffey (25) Santa Ana (22) and Grossmont (18.50).

Among the highlights were RCC sophomore Mary Myers (Riverside - M.L. King HS '15), who finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (:25.73) and frosh Morgan Pollard (CAVA), who was third in the three-meter diving event (83.20 points) and fourth in the one-meter diving event (108.75).

RCC finished second in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:27.46 with the quartet of sophomores Kelly Perez (Riverside / John W. North HS), Citlali Salazar (Eastvale - Eleanor Roosevelt HS '15), Jacqueline Johnson (Temescal Canyon HS '15) and Emily Martin (Yucaipa - Yucaipa HS '15) doing the honors.
