Martin & Myers Each Win Two Events as the Tigers Finish First in OEC Meet #1 at Riverside Last Friday

RIVERSIDE -- With two swimmers winning at least two individual events each, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's swimming and diving team finished first in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Meet #1 last Friday (Mar. 3) at the Riverside Aquatics Center on the RCC campus.

In a new format which has all seven OEC members face each other, as opposed to a dual meet, a triangular meet or a quadrangular meet, Riverside posted a winning total of 617 points to take an early lead in the conference standings.

Following RCC's first-place finish were Saddleback (483 points), Fullerton (348), Golden West (326), Orange Coast (321), Cypress (208), and Santa Ana (61).

RCC sophomore Emily Martin (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS '15) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.29) and the 100-yard freestyle (:56.30), and finished second in the 200-yard individual (indo) medley. Additionally, RCC sophomore Mary Myers (Riverside - M.L. King HS '15) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.71) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:18.72).

Sophomore Jackie Johnson (Temescal Canyon HS '15) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.96).

The Tigers also won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:44.35).
