Tigers Women Win Double Dual at Fullerton

FULLERTON -- Despite the rain and cold of the day, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's swimming and diving squad gained a pair of Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victories in a double dual meet at Fullerton College last Friday (February 28).

Riverside defeated the Saddleback College Gauchos, 206.5 to 84.5, and also topped the host Fullerton College Hornets, 200 to 93. With the wins. the Tigers improved to 4-1 in conference dual meets. 

"The Tigers swam with great purpose," said RCC head women's swimming and diving coach Doug Finfrock. "The Tigers started out the meet by going 1, 2, 3 in 200-yard Individual Medley with Tiffanie Perez going 2:21.76, Katie Holmes going 2:22.92, and Alexa Layne going 2:24.29," continued Finfrock.

"Perez went on to also win the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly with times of 2:06.10, and 1:01.64, respectively.  Brandi Carroll won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.38 and Keonni Obert won both the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard IM with times of 1:05.18, and 1:06.16, respectively. 

"Megan Geurts won the 50-yard butterfly in 29.18 and Emmie Betz won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:35.27," added Finfrock.

The Tigers will be back in action this Friday and Saturday, Mar. 7-8, in the Chaffey Invitational which will be at RCC.
