Tigers Start the Season Strong

RIVERSIDE -- The Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's swimming and diving squad started its season on a successul note with a pair of wins and a loss in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) quadrangular meet on Friday (Feb. 7) at the Riverside Aquatics Complex. 

The Tigers (2-1 in OEC) defeated the Santa Ana College Dons, 244-21, and the Cypress College Chargers, 223-61, and narrowly lost to the Golden West College Rustlers, 140-148.

RCC sophomore diver Aimee Bruns led the way winning both 1-meter and 2-meter diving.  In the 200-yard freestyle, the Tigers finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd with Tiffanie Perez going 2:06.17, Alexa Layne posting a 2:12.84, and Jenny Collier coming in at 2:13.81.  The Tigers also won the final event of the day, the 200-yard freestyle relay.  The relay was composed of Emmie Betz, Alexa Layne, Brandi Carroll, and Celena Peters and finished with a time of 1:46.10.

The Tigers will be back in action February 21st at Golden West College for its Sprint Meet Invitational.
