Tigers Fall to No. 23 Vaqueros

Riverside City College couldn't overcome a big halftime deficit Tuesday afternoon, falling 80-55 to No. 23-ranked Santa Barbara City College.

The Tigers slip to 8-6 on the year, while the Vaqueros improve to 9-2 overall.

Talia Washington continued to lead RCC with 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while Ariel Perkins chipped in 15 points (6-for-13) and Michelle Soto had 12 points after only missing one shot (5-for-6).

Soto also grabbed seven boards, along with Nave'ah Pina, to lead RCC's rebounding effort.

The Tigers couldn't catch their rhythm on the perimeter and were limited to an 18.2 three-point field goal percentage, while the Vaqueros shot 34.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Despite trailing 52-32 at halftime, RCC kept battling but ultimately fell 80-55.

The Tigers close out the 2024 portion of their season on Friday at 12 p.m. against another ranked foe in No. 25-ranked Antelope Valley College.
