Tigers Edged in Conference Battle

Riverside looked to hand the third-ranked Orange Coast College Pirates their second-consecutive loss on Wednesday night on their home court. It was a close battle throughout with the Tigers keeping the score within single digits throughout the majority of the contest, but Orange Coast's hot shooting from distance kept the Riverside at bay resulting in a loss.

Riverside dominate the boards by outrebounds the Pirates 49-33 leading to 14 points on second chance opportunities. Both teams shot over 80 percent from the charity stripe, but the game was determined from beyond the three point line. OCC hit crucial shots down the stretch to contribute to their 11-for-26 night from distance.

Freshman guard N'Dya Parks led the team in scoring for the second-consecutive night as seen in 18 points to go along with four rebounds. It was her third-consecutive showing in double-digit scoring after dropping 17 points in the previous game against Fullerton.

Freshman guard Mikayla Roberts and sophomore forward Maxine Najera each flushed 11 points to round out the trio of double-digit finishers. Each of them had six rebounds, while Roberts dished out four assists.

Freshman center Janara Williams led the team with 10 rebounds and contributed six points. Four of her points came at the free throw line.

The bench combined for a mere eight points on a 3-for-10 night shooting. Sophomore forward Mya Clark led the brigade with four points.
