Women’s Basketball’s Slow Fourth Quarter Leads to Defeat

The Riverside City College women's basketball team capped a two-day cross over tournament against the Bakersfield College Renegades on Bakersfield's home hardwood. A slow second half on the scoring front haunted the Tigers leading to a 65-55 defeat.

It was a less than efficient night for the Tigers on offense as they shot a mere 35.5 percent from the floor despite the Renegades displaying nearly the same efficiency rating. They shot only 20 percent from long range and turned the ball over 26 times.

The Tiger were down a point entering into the fourth quarter, but Bakersfield put together their strongest frame the final 10 minutes leading to a 10-point win.

Freshman center Neveah Manning was the Tiger's leading scorer with 16 points. She recorded her first-career double-double by hauling in 10 rebounds while adding three steals.

Freshman Neiya Hamilton followed with 11 points to acts as the only other Tiger in double-digit scoring. She hauled in two boards and pocketed a steal. Freshman Ayanna Bourgeois lead the bench brigade with eight points on a 50 pecent shooting night.

Riverside (2-1) will return home and host the Earning Our Stripes Tournament beginning Thursday, November 11. Visit www.rccathletics.com for the tournament page and all other information.
