Dewitt Drops 28, Tigers Snap Three-Game Skid in Victory over Ventura

The Riverside City College women's basketball team relied on the hot hand of sophomore forward Dayna Dewitt in a showdown against the Ventura College Pirates at the Glendale College Holiday Tournament on Friday night. Dewitt notched a game-high ad career high 28 points in a 75-60 victory.

The Tigers snapped a three-game skid with the win tonight. They were paced by Dewitt who score no less than six points in each of the four quarters she played. She did not take a seat throughout the entire game as she played the full 40 minutes leading to her game-high points total while adding seven rebounds and two assists. Her play throughout the tournament earned Dewitt All-Tournament honors.

Riverside lead in each quarter but the second. However, they were only outscored by one bucket. Paced by a strong five-point advantage at the conclusion of the opening first 10 minutes of play, Riverside capped the contest by outscoring the Pirates by nine points in the fourth quarter.

Freshman guard Trinity Vasquez continued her impressive play as she flushed 18 points to mark the fourth-consecutive game she has finished in the double-digit mark. She has now finished in double-digits nine times this season

Freshman guard Dyani Brewer finished with 12 points despite only sinking a pair of three pointers. She hit all of six of her attempts at the charity stripe and hauled in three rebounds as well. Freshman center Keyniya Breckenridge and Dewitt shared the team-high in board with seven.

Riverside will return to action on Wednesday, January 9 on the road in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opener against the Fullerton College Hornets. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
