Women’s Hoops Takes Down Fullerton, 78-58

The Riverside City College women's basketball team took on the Fullerton College Hornets in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action on Tuesday night and were locked in a close contest through the first half. The Tiger stepped up defensively in the final two frames to halt the Hornets to just nine points in the third quarter en route to a 78-58 victory.

Riverside utilized a 44.1 shooting percentage from the floor highlighted by dominant paint play. The Tigers outscored Fullerton in the paint by a count of 50-22. Additionally, they outrebounded the Hornets 51-40 and cashed in 17 points on second-chance opportunities.

Freshman guard Kimari Hollis (Moreno Valley, CA) paved the way on offense by nearly recording a triple-double. She flushed 16 points to go along with nine rebounds and seven assists. It is her third-straight game she has landed in double-digits and 21st game of the season.

Sophomore forward Joana Adams (Palm Springs, CA) finished with solid numbers highlighted by a team-high 17 points and a 7-for-9 mark from the charity stripe. She also swiped two steals and reeled in five boards. Sophomore center Darricka Hewitt (Riverside, CA) dominated the boards with 13 while chipping in seven points.

The Tigers (19-8, 10-3 OEC) will look to upset No. 11 Irvine Valley (22-4, 12-1 OEC) on Thursday, February 15th at 5 p.m. on sophomore night.
