Women’s Basketball Routes Copper Mountain

The Riverside City College women's basketball team hosted the Copper Mountain College Fighting Cacti on Wednesday night in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown. The Tigers routed the Fighting Cacti by the final score of 91-29.

The Tigers outplayed them in every major category highlighted by owning the boards 69-28. Additionally, the Tigers shot 39.4 percent from the floor which included a 23.8 mark from beyond the arc. Their defense halted Copper Mountain to a 23.8 shooting mark.

All but one player for the Tigers score at least two points with four players landing in double-digit scoring. Sophomore guard Dejah Wright (Moreno Valley, CA) helmed the offense by netting a game-high 24 points. She added five rebounds and two steals as well. Wight has finished in double-digit scoring in 10 of the last 12 games and is tied for first in the OEC in points-per-game with 18.5.

Sophomore Joana Adams (Palm Springs, CA) followed with 11 points while hauling in eight rebounds. She was dynamic in many facets by pocketing four steals and dishing out three assists. Freshman forward Dayna Dewitt (Mansfield, CA) matched her with four steals while hauling in six rebounds.

Riverside (17-8, 8-3 OEC) will continue conference play at home on Friday, February 9th against Saddleback at 5 p.m.
