Women’s Basketball Routs Orange Coast

All starters landed in double-digit points once again for the Riverside City College Tigers in a 92-66 routing over the Orange Coast College Pirates on Friday night. Riverside dominated in all aspects of the game highlighted by a 32-point outburst in the third quarter, marking their highest-scoring quarter on the year.

Riverside shot a strong 48.7 percent from the field which encompassed a whopping 58 points in the paint. They earned 22 points on second-chance opportunities and capitalized off of Orange Coast turnovers with 17 points.

Sophomore forward Joana Adams (Palm Spring, CA) paced the pack by earning a team-high 23 points with 10 points coming in the third quarter. She added eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Her 23 points has landed her in double-digit scoring in 12-consecutive games.

Freshman point guard Kimari Hollis (Moreno Valley, CA) continues to make waves by flushing 16 points and dishing out three assists. She performed well on defense by pocketing three steals. She has recorded 13 steals in the past four games.

Riverside dominated the boards by hauling in 59 rebounds. Sophomore forward Darricka Hewitt (Riverside, CA) hauled in 14 boards and dropped 11 points for a double-double. Freshman forward Dayna Dewitt (Mansfield, CA) was one rebound shy of a double-double by hauling in nine boards and finishing with 14 points.

The Tigers sit comfortably in third place with a conference record of 6-2 and an overall record of 15-7. They face off against the Santa Ana College Dons (4-4, 9-11) on the road on Wednesday, January 31st at 5 p.m.
