Women’s Basketball Snaps Three-Game Winning Streak, Falls to No. 8 Irvine Valley

The Riverside City College women's basketball team looked to keep a three-game conference winning streak alive in a showdown against the No. 8 Irvine Valley College Lasers on Wednesday. The Tigers hit a wall on the shooting front and struggled to keep up with the high-powered Laser offense en route to a 77-53 defeat.

The Tigers shot 30.8 percent from the floor which marks a season low despite outshooting the Lasers from three-point territory. The Tigers held a one point early in the first quarter, but could not hang on throughout the duration of the contest.

Freshman Kimari Hollis (Moreno Valley, CA) remained a strong offensive weapon for Riverside as she flushed a team-high 17 points while dishing out six assists. Additionally, she recorded five steals while only committing one turnover at the point. Sophomore guard Dejah Wright (Moreno Valley, CA) went for 14 points and recorded one block.

Freshman Dayna Dewitt (Mansfield, CA) and sophomore forward Darricka Hewitt (Riverside, CA) combined for 23 rebounds, while sophomore forward Joana Adams (Palm Springs, CA) chipped in 10 points.

The Tigers (14-7, 5-2 OEC) will face off against Orange Coast (2-16, 2-5 OEC) on Friday, January 26th at 5 p.m. on the road.
