Fall Cheer & STUNT Recruiting Combine Huge Success

The Riverside Chity College Cheer & STUNT Staff attended the USA Cheer Combine held Saturday, September 14 in Irvine, CA.  The combine was open to all high school students interested in cheering in college. Colleges from across the country were invited to meet and assess the skills of high school cheerleaders. This event is a way for in-state and out-of-state coaches to recruit potential athletes for their college cheer and STUNT teams. The intention is that coaches and athletes connect to find the best fit academically and athletically.

The enrollment at the event was off the charts. There were over 300 athletes in attendance and 25 colleges. "There was a large pool of athletes to share our program with," said HEach Coach Rachelle Fawcett. "It was our privilege to speak with so many athletes about the amazing academic opportunities that are awaiting them at RCC." Students showed the most interest in Riverside's nursing, criminal justice, cosmetology, and culinary arts programs.

"As a staff we find so much joy and pride in representing Riverside City College at these types of events.  We are proud of our institution and the educational opportunities that are available at RCC.  It feels amazing to share that with so many aspiring student athletes. Providing information about the The Promise Program, which offers free tuition for 2 years to all California residents, is always a highlight of our presentation".  A special thank you to our current student athletes Catherine Ramirez, Emily Moore, Sophia Elias, Jade Simpson, Zsaja Carter and Brooke Widener (pictured above) who attended the event and helped share a student's perspective.
