Riverside Grabs Third-Straight Victory

Riverside City College grabbed its third-straight win with a 9-4 nonconference victory over Santa Barbara City College Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers improve to 11-20 on the year, while the Vaqueros drop to 14-12 overall.

RCC had 10 hits in the win with two Tigers posting three hits: Rebeca Razo (3-for-4, two runs, two RBIs) and Alysse Flores (3-for-4, one run, three RBIs).

The Tigers jumped in front with two runs in the first but saw the Vaqueros even the score in the fifth. Razo gave Riverside back the lead in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double, but RCC fully put the game away in the sixth.

With one out and two runners on, Chloe Lockhart tucked a base hit just inside the left-field line to score one before Sheila Fernanda Cano knocked an RBI single.

The Tigers loaded the bases, allowing Razo to blast a base hit up the middle to score one before Cano came home as SBCC managed to get an out. Riverside loaded the bases once more and Flores drilled a double over the left fielder's head to tack on two more runners.

Santa Barbara managed to get two runs in the seventh, but Lockhart picked up her eighth win of the year in the circle for the Tigers after tossing a strikeout to end the game.

Riverside returns to Orange Empire Conference action next week, heading to Santa Ana College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
