Softball Drops Fourth Straight in One-Run Affair

After reigning supreme in their season opener, the Riverside City College softball team dropped three straight games; their latest by a mere run. The Tigers found themselves in another battle as they were down two entering into the top of the seventh inning. A two-out RBI single from sophomore center fielder Sophia Franco-Colis wasn't enough to put the Tigers over the hump leading to a 2-1 loss.

Sophomore second baseman Sarah Franco-Colis sparked a two-out rally in the seventh by launching a double to put the Tigers in business. So. Franco-Colis followed by driving her in with a single, setting up the potential for extra innings. Riverside was unable to push across the game changer as freshman catcher Cassidy Cooper grounded out to the pitcher to end the inning.

Sophomore starting pitcher Chloe Lockhart tossed six innings and scattered six hits. The dagger came in the bottom of the third inning by giving up a two-run homerun to put the game out of reach. She fanned one batter.

So. Franco-Colis went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Sa. Franco-Colis drove in the lone run on a 1-for-4 day.
