Softball Loses Close One to Santa Barbara

It was a tight game for the Riverside City College softball team as they hit the road for a non-conference game against the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros. The Tigers scored first in the second inning to grab an early one-run lead, but it would be their only advantage throughout the remaining five frames leading to a 3-2 loss.

Sophomore second baseman Sarah Franco-Colis launched her second round tripper of the season in the top of the second inning to hand the Tigers a one run lead.

Santa Barbara answered back and tied the game at one all in the bottom half of the second inning. They followed by plating two more runs in the fourth inning. A bunt single followed by an error on Sa. Franco-Colis contributed to the two-run inning.

The Tigers got one back in the top of the fifth inning as freshman catcher Giuliana Danovaro crossed home on a passed ball, but they were unable to trim the deficit any further.

Freshman Erika Gibbs (0-1) earned the start in the circle and gave up four hits on three runs, one being earned, in four frames of work. Sophomore pitcher Chloe Lockhart tossed two innings and allowed just one hit one fanned one batter.
