No. 9 Softball Dominates Saddleback in Conference Action
The No. 9 Riverside City College softball team played host to the Saddleback College Gauchos on Friday evening at Evans Sports Complex in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown. The Tigers showed no mercy as they barreled 19 hits leading to 24 total runs thus hauling in their third conference victory of the season by the final score of 24-0.
The Tigers had everything working as the rolled past the Gauchos with ease. After scoring a combined three runs in the first two innings, Riverside worked to plate 12 runs in the bottom of the third inning to put a major damper on Saddleback's hopes of a comeback.
All but one starter recorded a hit for the Tigers with the heart of the order accounting for the majority of the damage. Freshman first baseman Jocelyn Ontiveros (Riverside, CA) and sophomore catcher Aeriel Carlson (Highland, CA) went a combined 6-for-8 with seven RBI and seven runs scored. Carlson lead the way with five RBI, while Ontiveros launched a solo homerun and scored five times.
Sophomore third baseman Terri Nava (Yucca Valley, CA) sent a three-run homerun over the right field wall to chip in to the Tigers crooked third inning as well.
Sophomore Synphony Hall (Rialto, CA) picked up the victory after tossing four innings and allowing just one hit. She struck out four batters. Sophomore reliever Adriana Ramirez (Moreno Valley, CA) entered in the top of the ninth inning and recorded one strike out.
