Wilcox and Carlson Named to All-Orange Empire Conference Team

RIVERSIDE -- Emily Wilcox and Aeriel Carlson of the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's softball program have been named to the 2017 All-Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Softball Team at the annual meeting of the OEC coaches.

Riverside City placed fifth in the OEC with a record of 8-12. RCC had its regular season finale, a home game against Golden West College, cancelled April 26 due to a lack of Rustlers players.

Wilcox --who is pictured -- is a sophomore left-handed pitcher/first baseman from Alta Loma (Alta Loma HS), who started 19 of 20 conference games and led the Tigers in OEC batting average (.500), hits (27, in 54 at bats), doubles (9) and walks (8), and was second in RBI (tied with 12). Overall (in 38 games/starts), Wilcox led the Tigers in batting average (.473), hits (53), doubles (16) and walks (23).

Carlson, a frosh catcher from Highland (Citrus Valley HS), also started 19 of 20 conference games and was fourth in batting average (.339), second in at bats (56), tied for second in hits (19) and runs (15) and led in home runs (six) and RBI (18). Overall, Carlson led the Tigers in runs (27), home runs (9) and RBI (40).

The Tigers -- seeded No. 14 in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) South Regional Playoffs -- recently completed their 2017 campaign with a pair of losses in the best-of-three series at No. 3-seeded El Camino College by the scores of 9-4 (last Friday) and 6-4 (last Saturday). RCC finished with an overall record of 18-22.
