Santa Ana Comes From Behind For 8-3 Win Over Host Riverside Wednesday
RIVERSIDE -- The Santa Ana College (SAC) Dons scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning and came from behind to post an 8-3 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory over the host Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's softball team Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 23) at Brown Field (Evans Sports Complex).
Santa Ana (8-16 overall, 3-7 OEC) trailed, 3-2, entering the frame before a sacrifice fly by Mercedes Munoz, a RBI single by Christina McCullough and a two-run double by Madison Graham gave the Dons a 6-3 lead. McCullough went three for three with a run scored and two RBI. Graham went three for five with one run and three RBI.
Desiree Hernandez came on in relief and gained the win (6-10) for SAC. RCC frosh RHP Laura Mendez (Rialto / Carter HS) came on in relief and pitched a scoreless fifth, but was victimized in the sixth. Her record is 6-7-1.
Riverside (12-12 overall, 4-7 OEC) returns to action on Friday, Mar. 25, when it visits the Santiago Canyon College Hawks in an OEC game beginning at 3 p.m.
