Saddleback Posts 3-1 win over host Riverside City Wednesday

RIVERSIDE -- The Saddleback College Gauchos pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the second inning and then added an insurance run en route to a 3-1 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) victory over the host Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers women's softball team Wednesday (Apr. 8) afternoon at Brown Field (Evans Sports Complex).

Saddleback (21-10 overall, 11-5 OEC) scored twice in the second on a pair of singles sandwiched around a fielder's choice and a trio of stolen bases. Sophomore catcher Samantha Lima (Brawley) reached base on a fielder's choice and scored on a RBI single by sophomore CF Allie Potts (Orange). In between, sophomore 1B Demerie Raymond (Bullhead City, AZ) singled and stole two bases, including home.

In the fourth, the Gauchos made it 3-1. Sophomore DP Kylie Lologo (Irvine) ripped a double down the left-field line, stole third and scored on a RBI groundout (4-3) off the bat of Lima.

Riverside (10-22 overall, 4-12 OEC) closed to within 2-1 on a lead-off double down the left-field line by RF sophomore Stephanie Gutierrez (Riverside / M.L. King HS) and a one-out RBI double to right-center field by frosh 1B Jordan Emanuele (Norco / Norco HS). Emanuele had two fo the Tigers' six hits.

Saddleback frosh starting RHP Kaylee Cranmer (Bakersfield) went the distance for the 14th time this season. She scattered six hits, allowed one run (earned), walked none and struck out none.to improve to 17-6.

RCC sophomore starting RHP Alexis Holman (Riverside / John W. North HS) went the first four innings and scattered six hits. She allowed the three runs (all earned), walked one and struck out none as her record fell to 5-14.

Both teams return to action on Friday, Apr. 10, at 2 p.m. Saddleback College Gauchos will host the Santa Ana College Dons, while Riverside will visit the Fullerton College Hornets.
