Bio

The 2014-15 academic year marks the third season for Michael Wilson as an assistant coach for Riverside City College (RCC) in charge of long distances since his arrival in 2012-13. Since that time, he also serves as assistant coach for the both the men's and women's cross country programs at RCC.

Prior to joining the RCC coaching staff, Wilson brought 27 years of coaching experience. For the previous 13 years, he has been the head coach of the track and cross country teams at Upland High School. In 1993, he coached the boys’ team to a CIF Championship, his second. He coached Duarte High School to a CIF small school championship, after having competed for the school in 1977.

He also served as the head coach at Upland High School, where his cross country teams finished fifth or better at the state meet. He has coached 10 individual CIF championships in track and cross country while head coach at Upland. In 2008, his cross country team at Upland finished third in the state meet, posting one of the best times ever at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Additionally, he has also coached at Orange Coast College during his career and has also worked for Major League Baseball. From 1988 to 1996, Wilson, who lives in Palm Springs, worked in the MLB scouting bureau. He helped coordinate an MLB Scout Development Porgram.

While at RCC, Wilson has coached one All-America and two All-State athletes.
