Tigers Win the Cal State Fullerton Invitational

FULLERTON -- Winning the race, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's cross country team bested three other community college teams and two four-year programs at the Titan Invitational, hosted by California State University, Fullerton Friday (Oct. 21).

Riverside City totalled 59 points, edging The Master's College (62 points), Orange Coast College (73), Vanguard U. (96) and Santa Ana College (105). The University of Antelope Valley was sixth (164 points), followed by East Los Angeles College (181) and Pasadena-based Providence Christian College (223).

Mike Tate, competing unattached, won the race with a time of 23:42.3.

RCC was paced by sophomore Joshua Silva (Corona / Corona HS '15) -- who is pictured -- was third overall (24:48.5), followed by sophomore Michael Simpson (Moreno Valley / Canyon Springs HS '15), who was 15th overall (25:28.2), freshman Darvale "Terry" Jackson (Riverside / John W. North HS '16), who was 16th overall (25:28.8), sophomore Cade Clark (Corona / Santiago HS '15) was 17th overall (25:31.0) and freshman Michael Robinson (Riverside / M.L. King HS '16), was 22nd overall (25:32.8) rounded out the Tigers' top five finishers.

Next for Riverside were freshman Jeffrey Robbins (Riverside / Riverside Poly HS), who was 27th overall (25:43.9), freshman Daniel Harper (Riverside / La Sierra HS '16) who was 28th overall (25:43.9), sophomore Cristian Malloy (Murrieta / Vista Murrieta HS '15), who was 30th overall (25:52.3) and sophomore Isaiah Quiambao (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15), who was 31st overall (25:54.5).

Riverside will next be in competition On Friday, Oct. 28, when it races in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships at Central Park in Huntington Beach. Meet time is 9 a.m.
