Tigers Harriers Place Thirteenth at 34th Annual UC Riverside Invitational

RIVERSIDE -- Being the only community college squad to post a team score, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's cross country team finished 13th among 29 teams Saturday morning (Sept. 13) at the 34th Annual UC Riverside (UCR) Invitational which was contested on the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.

RCC posted a team score of 323 points with adjusted individual places of 40th, 61st, 68th, 75th, and 79th. The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos won the meet (30 points) which covered a distance of 8.0 kilometers (approximately five miles).

RCC sophomore Ignacio Flores-Cabrera (Indio HS) led the Tigers, finishing 72nd overall (28:01.8). The next four Tigers finished a little farther behind, but were closer in terms of spacing.

RCC freshman Gabriel Monterola (Rancho Verde HS) was 125th overall (29:35.1), followed by freshman Juan Mercado (Central Union HS), who was 144th overall (30:28.6). RCC sophomore David Godoy (Patriot HS) was 167th overall (32:07.09) and freshman Gabriel Penate (M.L. King HS) was 185th overall (34:18.1). 

The Tigers will next race on Friday morning, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. in the SoCal Preview at Woodley Park in Encino.
