Men’s Water Polo Falls Short in Conference Finale

The Riverside City College men's water polo team hit the pool for the final regular season game against the No. 3 Saddleback College Gauchos in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action. The Tigers held one lead throughout the entire game and kept the score close through the first half, but the Bobcats tenacious play was too much for them to handle.

The lone lead the Tigers held came from the opening score of the game compliments of freshman Louis Grandi. From then on, it was all Saddleback. They went on to and 8-3 run that ended the first half leaving the Tigers in the rearview mirror.

Grandi was the bright spot in the loss as he scored four goals. He has scored in every game he has played this season and has score four or more goals in 12 games. He currently ranks seventh in the state with 76 goals. Furthermore, he punched in three more steals to bring him to 46 steals which is good for 10th in the state.

Sophomore Jared Salas followed with two goals and two assists, while freshman Relja Mitic pocketed three steals and hummed home a netter.

Freshman Pavle Ristic (6-5) earned his fifth-consecutive start and recorded seven saves. He has recorded 78 saves in October play.

The Tigers (9-13, 2-3 OEC) finish fourth in conference entering into the OEC Championships beginning on Thursday, November 4 at Orange Coast College.
