Men’s Water Polo Snags Two in Home Tournament

The Tigers completed a six-game home stand by hosting the 2019 Riverside Tournament and faced off against four quality community college opponents. Riverside went an even 2-2 victories over Rio Hondo and Grossmont in commanding fashion.

In both victories, the Tigers scored double digit goals and held their opponents to under 10 scores. In all but one wins this season, Riverside has landed in double digit scoring.

Freshman Fülöp Hegyi had a strong showing this week by scoring nine goals in the two wins. He did damage on the defensive end as well by recording seven total steals and two blocked shots.

Freshman Ethan Saenz was a monster on the offensive end with four total goals highlighted by three goals in the win over Rio Hondo. Sophomore duo Kenny Wulf and Juan Sosa followed with three goals as well.

Sophomore goalkeeper Leonardo Monges picked up the two victories highlighted by a nine save effort in the victory over Grossmont.

Riverside lost to a pair of ranked opponents highlighted by a close score against LA Valley. LA Valley, who sits in the top three, only held a two-score advantage entering into halftime.

Riverside hits the road to play Cypress on Wednesday, October 16 a 3 p.m.
