Men’s Water Polo Explodes in Victory over Fullerton

It was an offensive melee on Friday afternoon in the Riverside Aquatics Center as the men's water polo team kicked off Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action against the Fullerton College Hornets. The Tigers smothered the Hornets on each end of the pool by halting them to a goal each quarter and exploding for 17 goals, thus earning a 17-4 victory.

RCC looked to rebound after a tough showing in the Inland Empire Classic against four-year competition. They were successful in many ways – potent offense, pesky defense and great play in the cage.

After Fullerton scored the first goal of the game, they were hit with an instant drought. That drought was due to sophomore goalkeeper Leonardo Monges. Monges picked up his second victory of the season as he hauled in a season-high 16 saves. He made some remarkable saves, frustrating the Fullerton offense.

Offensively, the Tigers got it done. Nine different players landed in the goal while seven of them fired home two or more netters.

Freshman Vincenzo Inguanta paced the squad with three goals and three assists. Sophomore Trevor Carroll matched his assists mark with three and hummed home a pair of goals.

Sophomore Kenny Wulf remained hot with two goals, while sophomore Juan Sosa and freshman Dominic Hidalgo netted two goals as well.
