Riverside Falls to Orange Coast, Will Face Saddleback in Third-Place Game

The Riverside City College men's water polo team kicked off Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championship play on Friday morning as the third seed and faced off against the second-seeded Orange Coast College Pirates. After Riverside held a 3-2 lead after the opening quarter of play, they were unable to hold off a powerful Pirates offense that outscored the Tigers 10-2 in the following three quarters leading to a 12-5 loss.

Sophomore Alexis Gutierrez paced Riverside on the offensive front as seen in two netters while drawing one ejection. Freshman tandem Kenny Wulf and Ethan Saenz each scored one goal with Saenz dishing out one assist.

Sophomore Norbert Kovacs ran the offense highlighted by a pair of assists, while sophomore Andrew Serrano fired home one goal.

Leonardo Monges and David Romero split time in the cage and each recorded three saves. Romero picked up the loss to move his overall record to 6-8.

Riverside will face off against the Saddleback College Gauchos in the third-place game on Saturday, November 3 at 10:20 a.m.
