Riverside Defeats Cuesta in Saddleback Tournament

The Riverside City College men's water polo team looked to make some waves in the Saddleback Tournament after dropping five of their last seven games. Despite going 1-3 in the tournament, Riverside earned a big win over Cuesta with the final score reading 10-8.

It was a top-heavy offensive performance as Riverside rode the offensive strengths of sophomores Norbert Kovacs and Andrew Serrano. Serrano held down the middle of the offense by firing home three scores, while Kovacs matched his output with three goals.

Sophomore Alexis Gutierrez funneled the ball into his teammate's hands with three assists to go along with a steal. Freshman Kenny Wulf found the back of the net twice and dished out one assists.

Freshman David Romero earned his fifth victory of the year after going the distance in the cage leading to 10 saves.

Riverside (8-15, 1-2 OEC) will round out regular season play on Wednesday, October 24 with a conference showdown against Saddleback at 4 p.m.
