Tigers Haul in Second Conference Victory in Win over Fullerton

The Riverside City College men's water polo squad looked to bring its conference record to an even .500 by playing host to the Fullerton College Hornets on Wednesday night at the Riverside Aquatics Complex. After a close first quarter, the Tigers broke away from the Hornets and hauled in a victory by the final score of 10-6.

The Tigers got off to a solid start with freshman driving tandem Alexis Gutierrez (Mira Loma, CA) and Bo Loftin (Mira Loma, CA) each firing home a pair of goals, respectfully, to grab an early one-score advantage.

Freshman driver Norbert Kovacs (Budapest) joined the action by netting consecutive scores in the second quarter, backed by another score from Loftin to hand Riverside a comfortable 5-2 lead entering into halftime.

The offensive prowess continued in the third quarter with the Tigers scoring four goals to the Hornet's one.  Loftin fired home a penalty shot to kick off the outpour, back by goals from sophomore driver Hunter Starkey (San Bernardino, CA) and Kovacs. Loftin capped off the frame with a netter en route to a 10-6 win.

Loftin paced the offensive with four goals and added one assist. Kovacs followed with three goals and added an assist and three steals as well.

Sophomore driver Pedro Osorio (San Bernardino, CA) recorded a game-high five steals. Sophomore goalkeeper Kristopher McVeigh (Riverside, CA) earned his ninth win of the year after reeling in seven saves.

The Tigers (9-11, 202 OEC) will continue action on the road this Friday, October 20th by facing off against West Valley and LA Valley in the Golden West Tournament.
