Tigers Lose Twice Saturday at Golden West Tournament; Host Golden West Wednesday in Regular Season Finale

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Losing a pair of games at the Golden West Tournament Saturday (Oct. 22), the visiting Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's water polo will turn its attention to its regular season finale, an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) home game against the Golden West College (GWC) Rustlers.

Riverside City (16-7 overall, 3-1 OEC) sustained an 18-4 loss at the hands of the host GWC Rustlers in its first game on Saturday (Oct. 22) before coming out on the short end of another nailbiter, 7-6, against the Long Beach City College (LBCC) Vikings.

Against GWC, Riverside City trailed, 4-0, at the end of the first quarter, 9-2 at halftime and 15-3 heading into the fourth quarter.

Four Tigers scored one goal each. Freshman goalkeeper Kristopher McVeigh (Riverside / Riverside Poly HS '16) played the first half and had eight saves. Sophomore goalie Dustin Shaw (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) played the second half and had six saves.

Against Long Beach City, RCC was tied, 1-1, at the end of the first quarter, but then trailed, 3-2, at halftime and 5-3 after three quarters.

Sophomore utility player Kyle Christian (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) scored four goals for RCC. Goalie McVeigh -- who is pictured -- had 15, count 'em, 15 saves.

As mentioned, Riverside will host Golden West in an OEC game on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m.
