Tigers Sustain 8-7 OEC Loss at Orange Coast Wednesday; RCC Idle Until Next Weekend

COSTA MESA – In one of more exciting finishes this season, the visiting Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's water polo team lost to the host Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates, 8-7, Wednesday (Sept. 28) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game.

RCC led, 3-2, at the end of the first quarter, but trailed, 5-4, at halftime and 7-4 after three quarters.

Riverside (9-3, 1-1 OEC) trailed, 8-5, in the fourth quarter and closed to within 8-7 before a last-second potential game-tying shot was stopped as time expired.

RCC sophomore utility player Kyle Christian (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) -- who is pictured -- had two goals and two steals, and freshman driver William Moncada (Medellin, COLOMBIA / Calasanz HS '16) also had two goals to pace the Tigers. Freshman goalkeeper Kristopher McVeigh (Riverside / Riverside Poly HS '16) had eight saves and three steals.

Riverside will be idle until Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8, when it hosts its annual tournament
