Riverside Routs Fullerton, 20-9, in OEC Regular Season Finale Wednesday

RIVERSIDE -- Leading from the start, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's water polo team defeated the Fullerton College Hornets, 20-9, to conclude Orange Empire Conference (OEC) competition Wednesday (Oct. 28) at RCC's Riverside Aquatics Center.

Riverside (15-9 overall, 3-1 OEC) jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and led, 11-4, at halftime before pulling away after three quarters, 19-6.

Against Fullerton (10-12 overall, 0-4 OEC), RCC freshman driver Lazar Raca (Belgrade, SERBIA) had six goals, three assists and two steals. Freshman utility player Kyle Christian (Riverside / M.L. King, Jr. HS '15) added five goals and two assists. RCC freshman goalkeeper Dustin Shaw (Riverside / Poly HS '15) had seven saves and a whopping five assists.

With the second-place OEC finish, its first runner-up placing since 2012 when it went 4-1 in OEC play (18-12 overall), RCC will receive a first-round bye in next week's RCC-hosted OEC Championships. The Tigers will face third-place Orange Coast College on Friday, Nov. 6, at 10:20 a.m.
