Riverside Wins, 19-10, at Saddleback in Conference Action

MISSION VIEJO -- Winning its initial Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game of the season, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's water polo team won, 19-10, to the host Saddleback College Gauchos on Wednesday (Sept. 30). 

In a game where 25, count 'em, 25 Tigers saw playing time, RCC led, 7-2, after the first quarter and 12-4 at halftime. Thirteen of those 25 scored at least one goal or assist, and two of the three goalkeepers recorded saves.

Riverside (8-4, 1-1 OEC) was paced by freshman driver Lazar Raca (Belgrade, SERBIA), who had five goals, three assists and four steals. Freshman center Jonah Saenz (Riverside / Poly HS '15) added three goals and one assist, and freshman utility player Kyle Christian (Riverside / M.L. King HS '15) added two goals and two assists. RCC freshman goalkeeper Dustin Shaw (Riverside / Poly HS '15) had 12 saves. Freshman goalie Blake Vazmendes (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS '15) had three saves.

With the win, Riverside matched its victory total of last season.

Riverside will next compete in its own RCC Men's Tournament on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 9-10, at the on-campus Riverside Aquatics Complex.
