SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Posting a pair of victories Saturday (Sept. 20), the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's water polo squad salvaged a split of its four games at the Cuesta Tournament.

In its first game Saturday, Riverside (4-3 overall) came from behind and then held on for a 13-11 win over the Ventura College Pirates. RCC trailed, 4-1, then went on an 11-3 run to lead, 12-7, after three quarters.

Freshmen driver Justin Rohn (San Bernardino / San Gorgonio '14) had a team-high five goals, while freshman goalie Jeremy Mariscal (Santa Ana / Jurupa Valley '14) recorded nine saves.

In its tournament finale, Riverside trailed early, then bounced back for an 8-5 win over the American River College (ARC) Beavers. RCC spotted ARC a 2-0 lead, then broke a 3-3 halftime tie with three goals in the third quarter.

RCC freshman driver Brandt Restad (Murrieta / Vista Murrieta '14) had a team-leading four goals, while Mariscal had nine saves.

"We played the most solid defense of our young season," said RCC second-year head coach Jason Northcott of the team's win over ARC.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when they visit the Santa Ana College Dons in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game beginning at 3 p.m.
