Nick Robinson enters his ninth campaign as RCC's throws coach.

While at RCC, he has coached nine state champions, 30 All-America honorees and 37 All-State performers.

In 2019, the RCC throwers claimed 2 state champions, Alec Jones (Discus) and Angelique Hudson (Shot Put). The throws squad also put together a strong performances with 4 All-American honors and 3 All-State honors. Alec Jones was honored as the Field Athlete of the meet, and Coach Robinson was named the 2020 Men’s Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year. In 2018, the RCC throwers continued their strong performances at the CCCAA state meet earning 5 All-American honors, and 4 All-State honors. In 2017, the RCC throwers capped off the year earning two individual state champions. (Kori Sprague ’17 - Women’s Hammer and Kyle Jenkins ‘17 - Men’s Shot Put). Along with the two state champions, the throws squad was able to capture two All-Americans and four All-State performances. In 2016, the throws squad had another impressive season with the men and women racking up a state champion in James Jones ‘16, three All-Americans, and eight All-State performers. In 2015, the RCC throws scored a total of 28 points which helped the men and women’s track teams finish 5th and 3rd, respectively. In 2014, Robinson coached one state champion in the men’s shot put (Connor Einck ’14) and the throwers helped secure the men’s team title by scoring 50 points in the shot put, discus throw, and hammer throw. In 2013, Robinson had two state champions (Fatima Vergara ’13 - women’s discus and Jessika Byrd ’13 - women’s hammer). Byrd also set the school, Orange Empire Conference, Southern California, State and National record with a toss of 61.7 meters (202’ 5). In 2012, Robinson coached Byrd to the 2012 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Title in the hammer throw.

Robinson attended El Toro High School in Lake Forest, CA, where he competed in track and field and threw 65' 1 in the shot put and 197' in the discus throw. During the summer of his senior year he made the World Junior team that went to Beijing, China where he finished in 10th place.

Robinson then attended UCLA for three years. After the first year, he made another junior team that went to Sao Paulo, Brazil where he won the shot put and placed second in the discus throw. The last two years, he attended Concordia University in Irvine and was a Six-Time All-America and won five national titles (two indoor titles and two outdoor titles in the shot put, and a national title in the discus throw).

Before coming to Riverside City College, he coached at El Toro High School where he had three boys go over 59' in the shot put and three boys over 170' in the discus throw.

Coach Robinson lives in Murrieta, CA with his wife, Holly and sons Fletcher, 2 and Sullivan 6months.
