Hornsby, Aluesi State Champs, Men's Track and Field Team 5th At State Meet

Complete 2022 CCCAA State Track and Field Results

The Riverside City College men's team scored two individual champions in placing fifth as a team at the CCCAA State Track and Field Championships held May 20-21 at Mt. San Antonio College.

The Tigers scored 46 points overall as host Mt. SAC won the team championship with a decisive 224.5 points. 

Leading RCC's success were Joshua Hornsby, who was the lone athlete to break 14 seconds this year in winning the 110-meter hurdles in 13.96, and Donal Aluesi, who won the state shot put title with a throw of 15.95 meters (52-4 feet). Aluesi, the Orange Empire Conference Field Athlete of the Year, reached his winning throw on his third attempt.

Both marks were the state's 2022 best of the year.

Hornsby's time was the third fastest in RCC track and field history.

Riverside had a successful season overall by winning the OEC title and a third place showing at the Southern California Championships.

The program won the 2019 state team title and has nine state team championships overall, including two times winning three in a row in 2008-2010 and 2012-2014.
