Men’s Track & Field Places Third at SoCal Regionals

The Riverside City College men's track & field team returned to Moorpark College to compete in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional Finals. The Tigers continued to makes waves as they placed third overall with a total team score of 101.5.

Riverside thrived in the jumps as they hauled in 36.5 total points, while pocketing 22 points in the distance events.

Riverside's 4 x 400 M Relay (3:14.21) snapped the tape for the top finish in a true photo finish. Luke Gleason Tyler Howard, Noel Bernal and Xavier Montgomery got the job done by a mere four on hundredths of a second leading to the gold.

Joshua Hornsby earned the top mark in the 110 M Hurdles (14.13) to continue to pace the state. He beat the second place finisher by four one hundredths of a second to act as one of the closest races of the day.

Darius Hill placed second overall in the High Jump (2.05m) to go along with a third place finish in the Long Jump (7.08m). Novye James leaped to a second place finish in the Long Jump (7.10m) to best his teammate by a mere .02 m. James continued on to place fourth overall in the Triple Jump (14.58m) which was slightly off a podium finishing mark.

Gonzalo Sanchez placed third overall in the 800 M (1:53.63), while Kyle Reden placed fourth overall (1:53.70) in a very competitive race. The top finisher was less than a second difference between the top five finishers.
