Men’s Track & Field Records Seven Top Marks at Team 4 Titus and Ely Invite

The Riverside City College men's track and field team competed in the Team 4 Titus and Ely Invite hosted by Concordia University on Saturday. In the second-consecutive non-scoring event the Tigers have participated in, they put together strong marks that saw 17 top three finishes and seven first place showings against NCAA and CCCAA competition.

Donal Aluesi continued to shine in the throws as he had another day of top performances. He placed first overall in the Discus (157' 6"), backed by a second place showing in the Shot Put (51' 3 ½"). He notched a personal record in the Shot Put to put him at second best in the state.

Darius Hill had a strong day as he notched personal-best mark in the High Jump (6' 9") which earned him first place and the third strongest mark in the state. He followed with a second-place showing in the Long Jump (23' 5 ½").

Fellow leaper Novye James placed first overall in the Triple Jump (23' 1 ¼") and followed with a third place showing in the High Jump 23' 1 ¼").

The 1600 M relay comprised of Noel Bernal, Xavier Montgomery, Joshua Hornsby and Hill snapped the tape to earn first place (3:21.80). it was Hornsby 's second top finish as he placed first overall in the 110 M Hurdles (14.70).

Riverside swept the podium un to 10,000 M with Gavyn Condit taking first place (32:07.01), followed by David Rush (32:43.53) and Nicandro Rosas (33:43.61).

Gonzalo Sanchez earned the top spot in the 800 M (1:55.74) to earn him the ninth strongest mark in the state, while Kyle Reden place second (1:56.22).

The 400 M Relay squad featuring Lovewyn Don-Willies, Lorenzo Boyd, Dominic Boykins and James placed second (42.41), while Boykins added a third place finish in the 100 M (10.89).

Montgomery, after his showing in the 1600 M Relay, earned a third place mark in the 400 M (50.39), Abel Ramos placed second in the 3,000 M Steeplechase (9:40.70) to round out the top performances.
