Men’s Track & Field Displays Deep Talent at Moorpark Invitational

The Riverside City College men's track & field team kicked off their season at the Moorpark Invitational on Friday and put together some impressive marks while entering multiple competitors in various events. The Tigers competed against a plethora of schools including CCCAA, Division III and club teams.

"It was great getting back at it after being away with COVID for a year," said Head Coach Jim MCCarron. "The team and coaching staff really had an enjoyable time competing again."

Nine runners participates in the 60 M with four runners placing in their respective sections. Lorenzo Boyd placed third in his heat with a time of 6.86, while Jabari McMillian place third in the second heat with a time of 7.04. DeQuan Guillebeau (6.81) and Shamar Anderson (7.09) each captured the top spot in the third and fourth heats, respectively.

Lovewyn Don-Willies earned second place in the second heat in the 300 M with a mark of 37.44, proving to be the third fastest time in the three sections.

The Tigers swept the podium in the 600 M as Kyle Reden (1:25.94), Michael Holland (1:27.32) and Angel Sanchez (1:27.62) finished consecutively.

Abel Ramos, the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Male Runner of the Year and Individual Champion, placed first in the one mile run with a mark of 4:42.50. Raen Reyes followed with a top finish in the 3000 M (9:01.51) in section one, while Mario Jacobo (9:11.54) and Gavyn Condit (9:17.93) finished one and two in the second section.

Reyes also place first in the 1000 M Steeplechase by a commanding 10 seconds at 2:57.52.

Matthew Siggins placed first in two events starting with the 300 M Hurdles (40.82). He went on to win the 4 x 400 M Relay (3:31.71) with help from Novye James, Michael Holland and Luke Gleason.

Darius Hill place atop the standings in the High Jump with a mark of 6' 8.75". He continued on to record a 24' 3" in the Long Jump second only to James. He recorded a meet-best 26' 9.5" mark that lands him atop the Nation;s best community college competitors so far this season. DeQuan Guillebeau recorded an impressive 23' .75" leap. 

Donal Aluesi dominated the Shot Put with a mark reading 50' 3.5" and placed second in the Hammer with a chuck of 142'. He also recorded a meet-best 157' 10" in the Discus. 

Logan Orlando rounded out the top performers with a first place finish in the Javelin with a mark of 137' 5".

Team score was not recorded at this meet.

Riverside will continue action at home on Friday, February 11 by hosting the RCC Early Bird.
