Riverside Men’s Track & Field Sweeps Podium at OEC Multis

A trio of Riverside City College men's track and field athletes participated in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Multi Duals that began this past Wednesday and concluded this Thursday evening. The Tigers swept the podium with freshman Jacob Woods earning first place with a point total of 5,362. Freshman Steven Tinoco earned 4,863 points to place second, while Jarrod Morris reeled in third place with a points mark reading 4,682,

The three competitors battled through difficult conditions as they fought high wind conditions and scattered rain.

Woods began the day with a victory in the 100 M with a time of 11.51. He continued on to place first in the 400 M at a time of 54.25. He thrived in the High Jump by leaping to a meet-best 5' 7" backed by a 19' 9.5" clip in the Long Jump. He set the tone in a handful of throwing events as he reigned supreme in the Javelin (158') and the Discus (97' 2") leading to his overall victory.

Tinoco placed second after stringing together some solid numbers. He did not win any single event, but he placed second in a number of contests. He earned a time of 12.06 in the 100 M backed by a 54.43 time in the 400 M. He capped his running events with a third place finish in the 1,500 M with a mark of 5:07.48. The field events treated him well as he placed second in the High Jump (5' 5.75") and the Pole Vault (11' 3.75").

Tinoco slightly edged Morris out for the second place, thus handing Morris third place. He succeeded in the throwing events as seen in a second place finish in the Discus (93' 4") and the Shot Put (28'). His lone victory came in the 1,500 M as he snapped the tape for a time of 4:57.07.

Riverside will continue team action on March 8 at the Ben Brown Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 8 a.m.
