NORWALK -- Continuing its success from earlier in the week, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers Men's Track and Field team had another solid two days at the Cerritos College Invitational last Friday and Saturday (Apr. 8-9).

Some of the big performances turned in by the Tigers were by freshman Christian Malloy (Murrieta / Vista Murrieta HS '15) in the 1500-meter run (3:57.12), freshman Michael Simpson (Moreno Valley / Canyon Springs HS '15) in the 5000-meter run (15:57.82) and 3000-meter SteepleChase (second place, 9:33.83), and freshman Ryan Muir (Hemet / San Jacinto HS '15) in the 110-meter high hurdles (:14.65).

Also turning in big performances were sophomore Anthony John Soriano (Santa Ana / Eastvale - Eleanor Roosevelt HS), who is pictured, who was second in the long jump (7.04 meters) and first in the triple jump (14.47 meters).

In the throws, big performances were turned in by freshman James Jones (Bremerton, WA / Olympic [WA] HS '11) in the shot put (16.11 meters), freshman Chris Brown (Desert Hot Springs HS) in the shot put (15.17 meters), discus throw (second, 44.49 meters) and hammer throw (first place, 53.50 meters). Sophomore Zach Fromm (Patriot HS) was first in the discus throw (44.60 meters).

"I was really impressed with how Chris Malloy ran the 1500 meters on Saturday," said ninth-year RCC head men's track and field coach Jim McCarron. "He proved that he can be a  state scorer in that event."

Riverside City will be in action this Friday, Apr. 15, when it hosts the Fullerton College Hornets and the Saddleback College Gauchos in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) double-dual meet on Friday, Apr. 15.
