Two Tigers Perform Personal Records Saturday at San Diego State-hosted 38th Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO -- Coming up with several tremendous performances, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's track and field team put up a good showing at the 38th Aztec Invitational last Saturday (Mar. 26), which was hosted by San Diego State University.

RCC freshman James Jones (Bremerton, WA / Olympic HS '11) hit a new p.r. (personal record) in the shot put with a distance of 16.79 meters / 55' 1", along with freshman Fernando Rodriguez (Elsinore HS) hitting 14.33 meters / 47'-1/4" in the shot put and a p.r. of 44.46 meters / 145' 10" in the discus throw.

In the running events, freshman Keeon Thomas (Landstown, VA / Landstown [VA] HS '14) had a solid showing in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of :56.05.

Additionally, great performances in the 800-meter run were turned in by freshman Joshua Silva (Corona / Corona HS '15), who is pictured, was second (1:53.95), freshman Cristian Malloy (Murrieta / Vista Murrieta HS '15), who was fourth (1:56.37) and sophomore Alberto Rodriguez (San Jacinto HS), who was fifth (1:56.57).

In the jumps, freshman James Wilson (Fontana / Alta Loma HS) won the triple jump with a distance of 13.39 meters / 43' 11-1/4". Wilson was fifth in the long jump (5.95 meters / 19' 6-1/4").

The Tigers' next meet will be on April 5-6 for the Southern California multi-event championship and on April 9-10 at the Cerritos Invitational.
