Clarke Places First in Shot Put Preliminaries; Tigers Advance to SoCal Finals at Cerritos May 9

NORWALK -- Paced by a first-place finish in the shot put, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers Men's Track and Field team had an outstanding weekend of competition at the Southern California Preliminaries at Cerritos College in Norwalk.

Frank Clarke won the shot put with a mark of 15.68 meters.

"The Tigers had a very good day for both the men and the women, qualifying the most athletes from any school in Southern California," said RCC head men's track and field coach Jim McCarron.

The Tigers will be competing next Saturday, May 9, at the Southern California Finals at Cerritos College in Norwalk. The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships will be held Friday-Saturday, May 15-16, at the College of San Mateo.
